Venom: The Last Dance’ Hits $300 Million Globally, Clint Eastwood’s ‘Juror No. 2’ Opens to $5 Million at International Box Office

According To The variety “Venom: The Last Dance” notched an encouraging box office milestone, crossing the $300 million mark in its second weekend of release.

So far, the third and final entry in Sony’s alien symbiote comic book trilogy has grossed $317.1 million globally, including $227 million internationally and $90 million domestically. The film, led by Tom Hardy as the titular antihero, opened this weekend in France with $6.5 million and Japan with $3.8 million. Other top markets are China with $70.6 million and Mexico with $13.4 million. “The Last Dance” cost $120 million to produce, which is far less expensive than most superhero tentpoles. So, it should be decently positioned in its theatrical run even if grosses don’t match the two prior installments, 2018’s “Venom” ($856 million worldwide) and 2021’s “Let There Be Carnage” ($506 million worldwide).

Elsewhere at the international box office, Clint Eastwood’s “Juror No. 2” collected $5 million from 1,348 screens across six territories. The Warner Bros. film had the biggest start in France with $3.1 million, followed by Spain with $937,000 and the U.K. with $442,000. Warner Bros. isn’t reporting domestic grosses on “Juror No. 2,” a legal thriller starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette. Eastwood’s latest directorial effort follows a juror for a high-profile murder trial who finds himself struggling with a moral dilemma that could sway the verdict. Despite positive reviews, the studio is only giving the film a minimal, Oscar-qualifying run in the U.S. However, others attest the film isn’t getting an awards push at all. Either way, Warner Bros.’ decision to shield grosses is one that allows the studio and filmmaker to avoid scrutiny on box office earnings. Eastwood, 94, has recently been hit or miss at the box office with 2021’s misfire “Cry Macho” ($16.5 million globally) and 2018’s commercial success “The Mule” ($174 million worldwide).

Meanwhile, Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s “The Wild Robot” added $15.7 million from 79 markets. The animated adventure has grossed a solid $147 million internationally and $269 million globally to date.
